FAQ

Q: Can you refer me to someone to make pillows, cushions, draperies, my duvet cover, and to an upholsterer?
A: YES! We actually have an in-house workroom, and we make pillows, bedding, cushions, and draperies on site. For larger upholstery projects we will recommend the right person for the job when you purchase your fabric from us. We do not mark up the cost of labor, nor do we make any money from these referrals.  We would be happy to give you a ballpark idea of pricing at anytime.

Q: How much fabric do I need for my project?
A: That’s easy – just bring us a picture and a few simple measurements (overall height, width, and number of loose cushions) and we can tell you how much fabric you will need. There are also a few rules of thumb such as: ¾ of a yard will typically do 2 dining chairs, and most wingback chairs take 7 yards. We listed a few others, as well as a handy chart, in this blog post: How Much Fabric do I Need? Furniture Edition.  For draperies, we will need the bracket to bracket measurement and the finished length. You can read a more in-depth description of figuring drapery yardage in this blog post: How Much Fabric do I Need? Drapery Edition.

Q: Can you come to my house and help with design?
A: Yes, for a fee we can come to your home and help with all things design related. We can also help tremendously here at the store for no charge. Read more about our design services and recommended interior designers here.

Q: Can you come to my house and help me measure?
A: Yes! If you are also stuck deciding where to hang your rod, or what type of hardware to purchase one of our designers can come out, for a fee, and help with all drapery decisions.

Q: What is the minimum amount of fabric I can buy?
A: If the fabric is in stock, you can buy as little as 1/4 of a yard. Many of our special order fabrics have a 1 yard minimum and take 2-3 weeks to arrive at the store. Other special order fabrics are a 15 yard minimum and can take up to 2 months to arrive. It is best to consider if you have a time deadline before starting your fabric shopping

Q: Will someone help me with my fabric choices?
A: You Bet!! That’s the best part of our job. We are happy to give as much (or as little) help as suits you.

Q:How often do you get new fabrics in the store?
A: Daily. Sometimes 1 roll arrives, sometimes 15. It is always exciting to see new fabrics come in. Let us know if you want us to keep our eyes open for something special for you!
