Don’t be Koi!

This chair was commissioned by a very sweet customer who lives in a house full of boys.  After designing her home to withstand the rough and tumble nature of her family members, she really wanted one design element that would speak to her.  She told Amy she wanted to bring some playful fun into her more utilitarian space.  We think this project came together  just swimmingly!

The frame came from our vintage collection, and as the customer was browsing our fabrics she had a complete “love at first sight” moment with the Koi pattern.  Which just goes to show that our best design advice is always to start with something you love, and the rest will fall into place.

As Amy was designing  this piece she knew she had to incorporate patterns and colors that would not only liven up the space, but would also work with the customers existing pieces.  To that end, Amy so cleverly incorporated some of the customer’s own couch material as welting on the chair so the pieces would really speak to each other, and help the sofa come to life.
